I have now started with an idea collection for tracks for the album, using my artistic project management tool of choice: a spreadsheet.
Ideas so far (in no specific order):
- a little jab at Riley’s In C, using only G sharps (albeit not entirely in tune) on the trombone at fortissimo possibile. Perhaps resolving into a second track with a perfectly pitched set of C sharps?
- a proper recording of my favourite self-recorded ringtone.
- a version of Haydn’s Kaiserquartet (known as the music for the national anthem of Germany), using single-note samples of all kinds of possible sources.
- a track using a synthesis concept I have just invented. Need to implement the synthesizer first, though – perhaps I for once need to take a look at Reaktor?
- a short spoken word statement from an old band rehearsal.
- perhaps the fantastic coda of the Eclectic Blah track Off the Wall?
- something with arpeggiators, different cycle lengths and rhythms. working title oscillators.
- something melancholic with an Eighties synth and a soprano sax.
- a track from the compositions I had done for the project of a guitar/piano duo album with Jan Kühner. The track Paul is considered.
- an arrangement of the second track from the April 9 MSSS.
- a short edit from that old kybermusik session I did with Jeff Duke, of which he has already done a lengthy edit.
- perhaps a short bit cut out from one of the JANUS tracks?
And a few more ideas – all in all, nearly enough to do an EP. It’s time to start recording!
