Today, not much did happen with regard to recording or editing – but that isn’t bad in any way!
First of all, yesterday when I was still in bed, I came up with another idea for a track. Consider this:
A three-piece suite for melodica and bass guitar. Entitled Größenordnungen (orders of magnitude), the sketch includes three parts (each lasting roughly between 30 and 60 seconds).
Part 1 “30K”: a very deeeeep, slow, pulse (I’m thinking ‘A or ‘Bb on my Tune Gap 6, on each “1″ in a 7/4 at 50-55 bpm), over which there’s a chromatic melodica melody.
Part 2 “300K”: Fretless bass and melodica, entirely composed with some elements of counterpoint, something like a (slightly jazzy) Franz Schubert song.
Part 3 “3000K”: The bass (fretted again) and the melodica get driven hard, and play something with odd rhythm and angular melodies (and double stops/intervals on both instruments) at some pace.
And finally, today I mentioned via twitter that I had trouble getting the bass parts for Aeneis done – and half-jokingly asked three bass-playing followers (@stonewing, @alunvaughan and @russbass) if they would like to contribute. Guess what? All three said something to the effect of “yes, that sounds fun”! The internet is a great place to do music. Perhaps I get one of them to even do the bass part for Größenordnungen: 300K…
And with that, I’m away from home for two days, and while I’m not banning all musical thoughts from my mind, thoughts will rather be with Akustik Kies: Reflexiv Hören than with the #secretalbum.
Enjoy your 1st of May, and until soon!
